The Spheres as Hosts of Beings

On a chart wheel a sphere appears as a single glyph at a single degree, and it is easy to think of it as a point; a place where a planet happens to be. Anthroposophy (GA 102) asks for a different picture. A sphere is not a location but a host: a whole company of hierarchical beings whose collective activity IS the sphere. The visible planet is the near edge of that company, the place where its life becomes perceptible to earthly sight.

This is why each sphere in the app is keyed to a hierarchy rather than to a mere body. The Sun sphere is the region of the Exusiai; the Saturn sphere, of the Thrones; the Moon sphere, of the Angeloi; and so on through the seven, held to a fixed keying. To enter a sphere on the between-death journey is to enter the company of its beings and to receive the forces they give. The sphere is what they are doing together, seen from outside.

The app expresses this doctrine visually: each sphere is drawn not as a point but as a half-dome, a region with the beings shown within it; a host of beings, not a dot. The glyph is a doorway into a company, not a coordinate.

Because a sphere is a company of present beings and a stage of the soul's current journey, it must not be confused with a cosmic evolutionary epoch. The "Saturn sphere" is the outermost region of THIS life's soul-journey, held by the Thrones; "Old Saturn" is the first great planetary incarnation of the solar system, an entirely different order of thing. They share a name and nothing else. The app holds the two systems apart on purpose, and never joins them because a word is shared.
