In a lecture given in Berlin in January 1908, anthroposophy describes the twelve constellations not as seats of personality but as regions of cosmic force in motion: seven constellations carry a stream that ascends, five carry a stream that descends and man himself stands as the place where the descending must become ascending.
Before the ego entered into man—placed by anthroposophy at the middle of the Atlantean epoch—ascending and descending forces stood in exact parity. At the moment the ego began its own work, the constellation then reached was named Libra, “the Balance,” for it marked the place where the scales came level. Since that moment, it is man’s task (not fate operating on him, but a work he can take up) to help tip the balance toward the ascending stream.

Aries marks the summit of the seven ascending constellations, the point to which Christ's own Ego reaches as He gives the Great Sacrifice. It is a region of culminating, self-offering force, not a trait of soul.

Taurus is a station within the ascending stream, force still rising toward the sacrificial apex at Aries. Anthroposophy names no fixed member here; it is current, not character.

Gemini stands further along the seven ascending constellations, its force still moving upward through the stream toward Libra's turning point. No personal reading attaches to it.

Cancer is one region of the ascending cosmic stream, carrying force onward toward the balance at Libra. It is place in the stream, never prediction for a soul.

Leo continues the ascending sequence of force, nearing the midpoint of the stream where it will meet Libra. Anthroposophy gives it no explicit member of man.

Virgo is the last of the ascending constellations before Libra, force approaching the turning point where the ego itself began to participate. It marks region, not destiny, for the free soul.

Libra is the topmost region of the ascending stream, the Balance where man himself becomes the turning point and the ego begins to participate in the cosmic forces.

Scorpio is the highest of the five descending forces, streaming down toward man so that in time it may be turned into an ascending current.

Sagittarius carries the descending stream further downward, its force still pressing toward the point where man must redirect it.

Capricorn's force moves deeper into the descending stream, nearing the threshold it must pass through man to become ascending.

Aquarius lies close to the lowest reach of the descending stream, its force nearing the point where man rests as the scales to be turned.

anthroposophy names a Being whose lowest member corresponds to Libra exactly as man’s lowest member corresponds to Pisces, a Being who does not receive life from the cosmos, as man does, but radiates it outward as a continual gift. This Being makes His sacrifice from Aries: “the Mystical Lamb,” identified with Christ, whose Ego “reaches to Aries” as man’s own ego strives upward toward Libra.
anthroposophy ties the Aries-apex and the Libra-balance to a one-time event: the ego’s entry into man, dated to the middle of the Atlantean epoch. Does this describe a structural feature of the zodiac, true in every era, read tropically, the way this app’s Layer A form-principles are always true regardless of the sky’s actual position, or does it describe an epochal, sidereal event, closer in kind to the precessional Great Ages of Layer B? GA 102 does not settle this, and this app does not resolve it by assertion. See §6 of the tropical/sidereal doctrine note.

Physical Body
Pisces is the lowest of the descending forces, corresponding to man's lowest member, the physical body, marking the furthest point of descent before the turn.
