Glossary

The words this app uses, in plain language. Nothing here is a fate or a prediction; each term names a living reality the soul is free to meet. Definitions marked stated rest directly on the source lectures; those marked synthesis are orienting pictures assembled from the doctrine.

The Human Being

Astral Body: The bearer of sensation, desire, passion, and consciousness of an inner life, shared with the animal kingdom. It is the body in which sympathy and antipathy, pleasure and pain arise, and in which the "lotus flowers", the organs of supersensible perception, awaken through inner schooling.
Consciousness Soul: The highest of the three soul-members: the soul-life in which the human being comes to clear, waking self-awareness and the capacity for free spiritual insight. It is the soul-region especially cultivated in the present cultural age.
Etheric Body: The body of formative life-forces, shared with the plant kingdom. It holds the physical body back from the dissolution the mineral world would otherwise impose, governing growth, nourishment, reproduction, and the rhythms of life. It carries habit and temperament, and is the seat of the currents and centres worked upon in inner development.
Fourfold Human Being: The basic anthroposophical picture of the human being as four members: physical body (mineral), etheric body (plant/life), astral body (animal/soul), and the I (spirit). Each corresponds to a kingdom of nature the human being has grown beyond and now contains.
Lotus Flowers: The organs of spiritual perception that develop in the astral body through inner schooling, pictured as lotus flowers with differing numbers of petals, near the larynx (16), the heart (12), the solar plexus (10), the body-centre (6), and between the eyes (2). This app names and situates them as a map of the subtle body; it does not reproduce training exercises.
Physical Body: The outermost, sense-perceptible body: the part of the human being built of the same substances as the mineral world. In anthroposophy it is the most ancient member, first laid down in the earliest cosmic epoch, and the ground on which the higher members work.
Sentient Soul: The first of the three soul-members, working most closely with the astral body: the soul-life of immediate sensation, instinct, and desire. Above it stand the intellectual (or mind) soul and the consciousness soul.
The I (Ego): The innermost member: the self-conscious spirit that says "I" to itself, unique to the human being among earthly creatures. It is the free agent, never determined by the stars or the bodies, that works upon the other members, transforming them over the course of biography and across lives. In this app the I is always the one who reads, never the one who is read.

The Hierarchies

Angeloi (Angels): The ninth and closest choir, guardian beings who accompany the individual human being. In this app the Angeloi are the host working through the Moon sphere.
Archangeloi (Archangels): The eighth choir, beings who guide whole peoples and preside over the rhythms of the seasons and epochs. In this app the Archangeloi are the host working through the Mercury sphere; the four best-known preside over the four seasons.
Cherubim: The second choir, beings of overflowing wisdom who stand above the planetary system entirely: they are the zodiac-bearing beings, not planet-bearing. For this reason the app never links them to a single planetary sphere.
Dynameis: The fifth choir, the Spirits of Movement, who carry the forces of change and momentum through the cosmos. In this app the Dynameis are the host working through the Mars sphere.

The Zodiac & Spheres

Aldebaran: The fiery red eye of the Bull in the constellation Taurus, one of the four Royal Stars: the Watcher of the East, linked to the fixed sign Taurus and the Bull among the four living creatures. Its contemplative quality is steadfast beholding, the will that keeps faith with its own word.
Antares: The heart of the Scorpion in the constellation Scorpius, the rival of Mars in fire and colour, one of the four Royal Stars: the Watcher of the West, linked to the fixed sign Scorpio and the Eagle-Scorpion among the four living creatures. Its contemplative quality is transformation through release, the dying that precedes rebirth, the Scorpion that can become the Eagle.
Fomalhaut: The solitary bright star of Piscis Austrinus, the mouth of the Southern Fish that drinks the stream of the Water-Bearer, one of the four Royal Stars: the Watcher of the South, linked to the fixed sign Aquarius and the Man among the four living creatures. Its contemplative quality is receiving what flows from above without seizing it, the ideal of the truly human.
Four Zodiac Frames: A four-fold vocabulary (from "Speaking to the Stars", citing GA 137 and Willi Sucher) distinguishing the senses of "zodiac": the tropical zodiac of living formative forces, the equal-division sidereal reference frame, the actual unequal constellations of fixed stars, and behind all three the zodiac as the dwelling of spiritual beings, the "heavenly script". It refines, without replacing, the app's two-layer doctrine: the first frame is Layer A, the second Layer B, the third the real sky shown but not computed, the fourth the ground of them all.

Cosmology

Ascending & Descending Members: A cosmological picture placing the members of the human being around the zodiac: from the lowest constellation the being rises through ascending members toward a balance-point, then the forces turn and descend. The point of balance is the place where the I first participates and can turn the scales.
Colonies of Spiritual Beings: The reading drawn from the Karmic Relationships lectures in which the stars and planets are not physical masses but the outer manifestation of colonies, hosts, of spiritual beings. It is the ground of the sidereal layer and of the "sphere as host" picture.
Cosmic Epochs: The vast evolutionary stages through which the cosmos and the human being pass: Old Saturn, Old Sun, Old Moon, present Earth, and future stages. These are distinct from the seven classical planetary spheres and are never merged with them in this app.

Reading the Chart

Prenatal Epoch: A moment roughly nine months before birth, found by the Hermetic Rule (relating the pre-birth Moon to the birth ascendant), read as the conception-moment mirror of the birth chart. This app computes it the anthroposophical way and offers it as a contemplative complement to the natal chart.
Three Registers: Each placement in this app can be read in three registers: the traditional (the classical meaning), the evolutionary (the soul's longer journey across lives), and the developmental (the task the placement sets for growth). They are offered as complementary lenses, never as fate.
